| Hotel in Chioggia near Sottomarina and Venice
Hotel al Duomo, a superior 3 star hotel, is at the beginning of the romantic historic downtown Chioggia, overlooking the ancient Duomo cathedral, just 100 meters from the pedestrian area of Corso del Popolo and a few steps from the historic fish district, one of the symbols of the city of Chioggia.
Full of shops, typical restaurants and bacari where you can taste cicchetti, delicious appetizers that are served at the counter in osterie, Chioggia is full of culinary and gastronomic traditions, which you can find along the Canale della Vena, where centuries ago the white sails of the fishing boats sailed by the brightly colors homes.
Walking along Chioggia, between the sea and the sky, you'll discover the beautiful Chiesa di San Giacomo, Ponte Vigo, the fascinating buildings and the calli, the small alleyways where you never know who you may run into and stop to chat with in that dialect made famous by the “Baruffe Chiozzotte” by Carlo Goldoni.
Chioggia was once called the small Venice, surrounded by a wonderful landscape: the valli da pesca, the natural oasis, the Po Delta, the Sottomarina beach, the splendid Riviera del Brenta, Padua and Vicenza are all easy to reach from Chioggia.
It's a city that words alone cannot describe, where the magic of a secular history is combined with the fascinating silence of the lagoon and its architecture, the Palazzo Ducale and splendid Piazza San Marco. Among the buildings, museums and hidden nooks of the city, you'll discover the spirit of this city on the water, once the capital of the Serenissima Republic. It's a World Heritage Site, protected by UNESCO and a place that everyone should visit. Plus Venice is just 40-50 minutes by boat/car from Chioggia and Hotel al Duomo.
